Glow Code: The Secrets to Smooth Skin & Hydrated Hair

Featuring Gisou Haircare and BYOMA Skincare

For many summer does not automatically mean smooth hair and perfect skin. Despite greatest hopes, the season finds an unlucky few with frizz ball hair with dry skin. If you are one of the unlucky ones, think Monica from friends at Barbados, read on.

Hydration is the foundation

Deploying moisture is a fine art, Achieving smooth, radiant skin and weightless, conditioned hair — the kind that holds its own with or without makeup, product, or heat — comes down to consistency and the right formulations. This month, we’re featuring two ranges that quietly do the work: Gisou, known for its honey-infused haircare, and BYOMA, a barrier-focused skincare brand designed for hydration and repair. Each offers a minimal, function-first edit that supports long-term results — without overstating the promise.

Gisou: Moisture Without Weight

Founded by Negin Mirsalehi, Gisou formulates around one key ingredient: Mirsalehi Honey. As a natural humectant, honey draws moisture into the hair and helps retain it — without coating strands or creating buildup.

The range is best suited to dry, textured, or low-porosity hair, (check and cgeck again for me) and is particularly effective for maintaining hydration between washes. Despite the honey base, the finish is clean — not sticky or overly scented.

Recommended Routine:

  • Honey Infused Hair Wash: Gentle cleanse, low-foam

  • Honey Infused Conditioner: Lightweight hydration

  • Hair Mask: 1–2 times weekly for deeper restoration

  • Honey Infused Hair Oil: Applied to ends, wet or dry, to seal and soften

  • Propolis Heat Protectant: For styling days — adds structure and light hold

Editor’s Note:

The Hair Oil is the standout. Just one or two drops warms easily in the hands and adds polish without residue. Use it before air-drying for smoother ends or after styling for definition.

BYOMA: Barrier-Focused Skincare

BYOMA is built around a single idea: most skin issues stem from a weakened barrier. Its Tri-Ceramide Complex — a blend of ceramides, fatty acids, and cholesterol — is designed to strengthen the skin’s natural structure and retain hydration.

The formulas are fragrance-free, pH-balanced, and layerable. Ideal for skin prone to dehydration, sensitivity, or inconsistent texture. The textures are weightless, and the packaging is pared-back — no effort made to dress up what already works.

Recommended Routine:

  • Creamy Jelly Cleanser: Non-foaming, gentle enough for morning and evening

  • Hydrating Serum: Glycerin-based, no tackiness

  • Brightening Serum: Niacinamide and vitamin C without irritation

  • Moisturising Gel Cream (Yellow): Lightweight, works under makeup or SPF

Editor’s Note:

The Moisturising Gel Cream is the simplest upgrade — a clean gel texture that leaves skin soft and balanced, not overly dewy. Useful year-round, especially if your routine includes actives or retinols.

Some products are designed to impress. These aren’t. Gisou and BYOMA both offer quiet utility — well-formulated basics that support hydrated, resilient skin and hair. No added fragrance, no ten-step routines. Just balance, maintained.
